The Lodge at Malibou Lake is one of the most beautiful and underrated venues. The outdoor ceremony space is lovely, with a charming, natural backyard vibe. Inside, the venue offers a cozy, intimate setting perfect for a reception that feels warm and personal.
This wedding day focuses on the wholesome good stuff. Family, friends, and the union of the beautiful couple, G+S. Nothing extra, nothing less. Their priorities are so obvious and therefore so special to photograph and commemorate for them. Their people love them fiercely and that in itself was such a treasure to witness. I first met my couple on a rainy day in their Thousand Oaks home for their engagement photos. I met their beautiful pit Nala too. They are such kind whole-hearted people, forever grateful to attract clients like them.
THE LODGE AT MALIBOU LAKE WEDDING
One of my favorite moments to capture on a wedding day is the bride getting ready. This time is so personal and beautiful, and we don’t need to force it or make it over-the-top. On the contrary, I like to keep things natural and hands-off. I focus on the details around me and let the moments unfold. As this happens, I set up shots in a way that feels authentic and are composed beautifully. This time not only helps set the tone for the gallery but also creates a calm, relaxed start to the wedding day.
The bridal suite is fun and unique, with its floral portraits and a bright pink wall. It’s a fun backdrop to photograph. S spent the morning moments getting ready with her mom and sister before getting a few snaps with her closest girlfriends in their matching pajamas. She then stepped out to see her soon-to-be husband for their first look.
Their first look was incredibly emotional and beautiful, a truly heartfelt moment. Everything about the day unfolded so naturally, with so much love, sweetness, and personality. It was beautiful, intimate, and a perfect reflection of who G+S are as a couple.
And I can’t forget to mention something that always stand out to me, the food at the Lodge at Malibou Lake is absolutely amazing. Chef Cordelia, their incredible in-house chef, creates family-style dinners that are always huge hit.
